ACTCOMSS, initially established as the Ashanti Catholic Teachers' Support Scheme (ACT Support Scheme) in 2005, was created to address the financial and social support needs of Catholic teachers in the Ashanti region of Ghana.As a member-owned financial cooperative, Ashanti Catholic Schools Teachers' Cooperative Mutual Support Society Ltd.(ACTCoMSS) is dedicated to providing personalized financial services to our community. Our aim is to empower our members to achieve financial stability, security, and success. ACTCOMSS remains a vital support system for Catholic teachers in the Ashanti region, continually adapting to meet the needs of its members and fostering a culture of mutual aid and cooperative growth.
ACTCOMSS aims to continue its growth and expand its support services, reaching more teachers and enhancing the quality of life for its members. The organization is committed to promoting cooperative values and ensuring the sustainable development of its programs to meet the evolving needs of the teaching community.
ACTCOMSS is governed by a board of directors elected by its members, ensuring democratic decision-making and representation of the collective interests of the community. The leadership is dedicated to upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, and mutual support.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SCHEME:
The first Board of Directors of the scheme was chaired by Mr. Kofi Owusu Doodu, followed by Miss Agnes Adu-Boaheng, The Late Benjamin Agyei Twum, George Kwadwo Tuffuor, Mohammed Alhasan and the current Board chairman/President is now Peter Sula.THE MANAGEMENT:
Mr. Gabriel Gyamfi Agyare was appointed by the Board as the first manager since 2005 and still the manager of ACTCOMSS.2005: Establishment of ACTSS with the aim to support Catholic teachers in the Ashanti region.
2008:Introduction of a small loan scheme to help teachers manage financial emergencies and personal development projects.
2014:. Rebranding and restructuring to become the Ashanti Catholic Teachers' Cooperative Mutual Support Scheme (ACTCOMSS), reflecting a broader focus on cooperative principles.
2015: Launch of a comprehensive welfare program, including retirement planning services and financial literacy workshops.
2018:. Partnership with local banks and credit unions to offer more favorable loan terms and savings plans for members.
2020: Digital transformation initiative to streamline membership processes and improve communication through an online portal and mobile app.
