The Ashanti Catholic Schools Teachers’ Co-operative Mutual Support Society (ACTCoMSS) has commemorated its 20th anniversary and 7th Biennial General Meeting with a renewed commitment to innovation, financial inclusion, and institutional expansion.The milestone event took place on Saturday, 24th May 2025, at the Kumasi Anglican Senior High School Assembly Hall, drawing participation from education stakeholders, cooperative members, and distinguished guests across the Ashanti Region and beyond. Delivering the presidential address, Mr. Peter Sula, Esq., President of ACTCoMSS, reflected on the society’s journey from a modest initiative at St. Peter’s Basic School to a well-established financial cooperative, now serving over 3,600 members and managing assets totalling GH₵28.6 million. “This gathering affirms our collective resolve to effect meaningful change through the Cooperative Mutual Support Model, ” Mr. Sula stated. He commended the vision of the founding members and reaffirmed ACTCoMSS’s mission to provide secure and responsive financial services rooted in the principles of integrity, professionalism, and member-centred governance.
Under the theme “Twenty Years of Quality Financial Services to Members: The Way Forward,” Mr. Sula outlined the society’s future priorities.
These include adopting digital technologies to improve service delivery, expanding membership eligibility to include non-Catholic school workers, diversifying financial products to meet evolving member needs, and increasing the minimum share subscription to GH₵500 to boost capital growth.
In his keynote address, Mr. George Sarfo Kantanka, Municipal Director of Education for Asante Akim Central, encouraged members to apply practical approaches to financial management and entrepreneurship. He also urged the Board to adopt digital platforms that would enable members to access their accounts, apply for loans, and register remotely—without the need to visit the office.
The event also featured the swearing-in of newly elected Board of Directors and Committee members, marking the beginning of a new governance term. In addition, founding members, former Board Presidents, and devoted staff were honoured with awards in recognition of their service and contributions to the society’s growth.
In remarks, Rev. Fr. John Yaw Amankwaah, Ashanti Regional Manager of Catholic Schools, and Mr. Agyare Gyamfi Gabriel, Manager of ACTCoMSS LTD, expressed sincere gratitude to Board Members, Committee Members, the Planning Committee, staff, and shareholders for their collaboration and commitment, which ensured the success of both the anniversary and the Annual General Council Meeting (AGCM).
